This holiday season, make your own snow globe candy holder! This easy-to-follow tutorial will show you how to use basic materials to create a festive and unique decoration for your home. All you need is a clear plastic container, some modeling clay, glue, and glitter. With just a little time and effort, you can create a beautiful snow globe that will be the envy of all your friends and family.
Materials Needed

Step One
To make this snow globe candy holder, you will need the following supplies: a cutting machine, vinyl, transfer tape, scissors, a clear plastic candy jar, and hot glue.
First, you will need to cut out the design for your snow globe. I created a simple design in Silhouette Studio that you can download here. If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can use a sharp knife or X-Acto blade to hand-cut your design.
Once your design is cut out, weed away the excess vinyl. Then use transfer tape to apply the vinyl to your clear candy jar. Be sure to smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles.
Now it’s time to add the finishing touches! Cut a small piece of cardboard or paper to fit inside the bottom of the jar. This will help keep your candy from getting stuck to the sides of the jar. Then fill the jar with hot glue and insert your piece of cardboard or paper. Add your favorite candies and screw on the lid. Your snow globe candy holder is now complete!
Step Two
Time to decorate! This is where you can really let your creativity shine. I like to start by painting the wooden base with a coat or two of white paint. Once that’s dry, I add some fun details like stripes or polka dots.
Next, it’s time to assemble the snow globe. Start by adding a little bit of hot glue to the inside edge of the jar lid and attaching the plastic ring. Then, add a generous amount of hot glue to the bottom of the jar and attach it to the wooden base. Be sure to hold it in place for a few seconds until the glue sets.
Now it’s time for the fun part – adding your own personal touches to the snow globe! I like to use a mix of small artificial trees, bottle brush trees, and real evergreen branches. You can also add in mini houses, figurines, or anything else you can think of. Just be sure not to overcrowd the globe so there’s still room for plenty of “snow”.
Step Three
To make the snow globe candy holder, you will need to cut a hole in the center of the bottom half of the globe. You can use a drill for this, or you can carefully use a sharp knife. Once the hole is cut, insert the LED light into the hole. Then, add glue around the edge of the hole and attach the top half of the globe. Now that you have your file, it’s time to cut it out! If you are using a Silhouette or Cricut cutting machine, simply upload the file and send it to your machine to cut. If you are cutting by hand, print out the file on regular printer paper and use a sharp knife or scissors to cut out the design.
Once your file is cut out, it’s time to assemble the snow globe. Start by glueing the two halves of the globe together. Then, take your candy canes and glue them to the inside of the globe. Make sure that the candy canes are evenly spaced around the globe so that they will support the weight of the lid when it is glued on.
Now that you have your file cut out and your candy canes in place, it’s time to glue on the lid. Put a generous amount of glue around the edge of one half of the lid and press it onto the top of the globe. Hold it in place for a few seconds until the glue dries enough to keep the lid in place.
